Memorial plaque on the site of the former Jewish cemetery

In 1999, a commemorative plaque was installed on the site of the former Jewish cemetery in Modra. The last surviving tombstone commemorates its turbulent history. During World War II, Modran Jews were taken to fascist concentration camps, where almost all perished, only a few returned. In 1960, there was only one Jewish family left in Modra to take care of maintaining the graves in the cemetery.
