Modran Tomas Klimko

Tomáš Klimko and his family founded the winery in 2016 after more than 15 years of experience in growing grapes and making wine for family and friends in Modra, and wine production becomes the only, serious and real source of funds and great passion for a trained mineralogist.

He grows grapes for wine production on three hectares of Modran soil from sandy slopes to clay plains. It is the diversity of soil conditions and geological subsoil that give wines a unique and unmistakable character.

In the cellar, he uses modern procedures and technologies with an emphasis on sensory purity and the varietal character of wines. The vast majority of wines mature in stainless steel containers, but he also likes wood.

Frankovka and Pinot noir mature in French barrique barrels. They also train white Pinot and Chardonnay in barriques, which ferment in barrels and then mature on the lees for at least six months.

“We grow traditional varieties, typical of our city, floral and fruity in aroma, delicious in taste. They are primarily Müller-Thurgau, Veltliner and Silvan greens, Pinot blanc, Tramín and Frankovka.”
