City tower

It began to be built as a watchtower in 1574 near the church of St. Barbara from the 14th century. It was the dominant feature of Modra and its corridor was used for guarding and observation, fires and other natural disasters were reported from it. It had 4 bells and in 1731 it received the first tower clock. The tower is 53 meters high and there are 150 steps to the walkway. Since 1873-1876, it has been incorporated into the church of St. Stephen the King as a church tower. Tower clocks and 6 bells are still used today.
